Pet Lovers UNITE!

You all know my love for all animals.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be hosting the 8th Annual SASF Furevermore Gala coming up in October.

Here’s the link!

Here’s another fun thing we are doing at KIRO 7, it’s Project Paws.

This is happening September 21st 12p-3p at the Marketplace in Factoria. I will be out there with adoptable pets, resources for your pet and our friends at Invisible Fence there to answer questions if you are looking to fence your yard.

I hope you will grab your tickets to join us at the SASF event and help us find homes for some of these very cute fur babies! See you Sept 21st!

Gratitude.. Always.

Beyond thankful..

I’m so thankful for all of you.

This last week was one of the most stressful weeks of my life.

2 weeks ago, I posted a blog about how one conversation turned into this big idea.

That was the Traffic Town Hall.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to the KIRO radio engineering staff Brynna and Vern, the creative help from Michael & Matt, support from WSDOT Bart Treece, WSDOT Ferries Ian Sterling WSP Troopers Johnna Batiste, Rick Johnson and Heather Axtman and of course Sully. Most importantly, Bryan Buckalew for giving me the support and the go-ahead to do this.

It is almost impossible to put into words the amount of gratitude I have for these people. They all have extremely busy workloads, and then taking the time to do this. I appreciate them so much.

If you missed it, it’s linked right here!

Please take a min to watch. I would love your feedback!

Conversations spark Ideas..

Honestly.. it all started with a conversation with WSP Trooper Rick Johnson. We discussed everything from HOV lane violators, summer travel and summer plans with our families. Driving home, I kept thinking why don’t we talk about this more? Why does a conversation like this take place away from a microphone, a camera?

I’m stopping that now.

This convo sparked the idea to invite Chris Sullivan (who is also co-moderating & a panelist) all of our WSP officers, Trooper Johnna Batiste, Trooper Heather Axtman, Trooper Rick Johnson, King Co Sheriff Ryan Abbott, Bart Treece from WSDOT and Ian Sterling from Washington State Ferries to come talk about these things and more for the 1st ever Traffic Round Table.

This will be LIVE on the KIRO Radio YouTube page , on the KIRO Radio Facebook Page & on twitter. Starts at 2pm on May 22nd. (Wednesday).

Please send me your questions! Email them to me, tweet them to me and use the hashtag (it’s this #) #kirotraffic

There’s a LOT of info you need going into Summer! Hope you will join us!

Pressing on the heart and mind..

Heavy.. So much heavy.

I do not know how chronic pain sufferers deal with this.

Waking up with a headache EVERY SINGLE DAY..

Some days are better than others. I notice a difference when it gets closer to injection day.

To recap, there was a car accident Feb last year while we were on the air. Hit at 35 mph.  Sustained a concussion. Since then, I have been dealing with headaches.

Imagine having a migraine headache every single day of your life. That is how I feel.

Every.   Day.

Doctors have done everything to find a way to make me feel somewhat normal again. I have injections every 8 weeks. Sometimes up to 30 shots in my head neck and shoulders. Doctors have put me on a migraine self-injection every month. They have put me on muscle relaxers, over the counter meds like Excedrin and I drink a TON of water.

The pain is draining. It robs me of my life, my happiness, and my freedom. You would never know since I smile thru the hurt, grind thru the pain.

I am not asking for anything here, I just needed to vent.

There is a full court press to get what you have been asking for on the podcast!

I hope you checked it out and subscribed on Itunes. Jenn reached out with questions on the ferries. We found out why there are no north/south ferries. This week, an update on the most talked about Hwy 16/I-5 interchange.

Need some help here, looking for a photographer who will take some lifestyle pics for the website. If you know of anyone, send him or her my way.

Something that has been pressing on my heart lately, how you treat others and how others treat you. This is a convo kiddo and I talk about a lot. Quite a bit actually.

Convo this week with a friend on why people will go out of their way to break you.

Not quite sure why this is still happening?

Why are we NOT nice to each other? So confusing.

It is a terrible shame that we all have the same goal at the end of the day. Spread kindness.

We need more of that.
